A note from OW Contemporary director

We are very pleased to be bringing you some of Marcelo's latest work, recently arrived from Santiago, Chile. Along with his most recent series we will be exhibiting artwork from previous bodies of work "Paisaje Vertical" and "Paisaje Recurrente".

I first fell in love with Marcelo’s art while living in Santiago, Chile, scouring the few commercial galleries in the city, mainly found in the smart neighbourhood of Vitacura, where I came across Marcelo on the wall of La Sala and I was immediately struck by the simplicity yet mesmerising depth, the texture and the layers, the confidence, the colour palettes and aesthetic beauty, whatever it was, it stopped me in my tracks, and made my mind wonder.

Translation:

The relationship between the artistic process and the attempt to take a direction in form gives rise to moments that morph within a defined space — a place in time. This intention does not interpret tangible distances, rather, it is the contemplation of an environment, situations, and stages that pass through a space of continuous reinterpretation and conceptualisation.

In painting, time stands still, and various experiences, connections, and perceptions reside there. The lost image of a memory survives far from reality, materialising in the silence of the space.
